Moray Tours, Trips & Transfers really started long before it became a business. I met my American wife while living in Germany, and because of that time abroad I ended up becoming a confident German speaker. When we eventually moved to Scotland, I wanted to show her the places I grew up around — not just the well‑known spots, but the quieter corners that even I hadn’t seen myself.
That turned into a bit of a tradition. Every year, for her birthday, we pick a new Scottish island to explore. It’s become one of our favourite things to do together, and it’s taken us to places I probably never would’ve visited otherwise.
Over time, it wasn’t just the two of us. My wife’s family and friends started coming over from America, and we’d help them plan their trips and show them around. My own family and friends — many living elsewhere in the UK — regularly come up to visit too, and we always end up taking them to new parts of the country. I realised I genuinely enjoy helping people discover Scotland and showing off the beautiful area of Moray.
In the last few years, getting our Labrador, Clover — as well as getting into running, cycling, and swimming — has opened up even more ways to explore. Wild swimming spots, long runs along the Speyside Way, the Dava Way, running the Dramathon, and even completing a triathlon have all given me another excuse to enjoy the landscape. It’s made me appreciate how much Scotland — and Moray in particular — has to offer, not just for sightseeing but for outdoor adventures too.
All of that — travelling, exploring, hosting, guiding, and discovering — naturally led to the idea of starting this business. Moray Tours, Trips & Transfers is an extension of what I’ve been doing for years: helping people experience Scotland in a way that feels personal, relaxed, and memorable.
